How to Store Leftover Lasagna
One of the best ways to store your lasagna leftovers and avoid food waste is to freeze it. Separating the lasagna and freezing it in individual servings helps maintain the original structure of each portion. When it comes time to reheat frozen lasagna, the best method is to heat it in the oven.
How to Reheat Frozen Individual Lasagna Servings
If you're just reheating a frozen individual serving of lasagna, allow to thaw in the fridge, place it on a microwavable and oven-safe dish, and thaw it in the microwave on the defrost setting for about 5 minutes. Then once thawed, cover your individual serving with foil to retain moisture and place it in the oven at about 350°F until the internal temperature reaches 160°F. Hearing or seeing the edges sizzling is usually a good indication that it is nearing or at the desired internal temperature.
How to Reheat Frozen Lasagna in the Oven
For multiple servings or a batch of lasagna, thaw in the refrigerator for 24 hours – add extra sauce as needed. Once it has defrosted, bake it at 375°F for approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes. If your recipe calls for egg, the required baking time increases to approximately 1 ½ to 2 hours. Ultimately, you want to bake the lasagna until its internal temperature reaches at least 160°F. Hearing or seeing the edges sizzling is usually a good indication that it is nearing or at the desired internal temperature. When you take the lasagna out of the oven, let it sit for another 10 minutes before cutting into it.
