Ingredients

Serves 8

1 Package Barilla® Al Bronzo® Spaghetti pasta
3 Sheets Nori
1 1/2 Cups bonito flakes, divided
4 Tablespoons extra virgin olive oil, divided
2 Cloves garlic, minced
1 jalapeno pepper, thinly sliced
2 Tablespoons ginger, minced
3 Cups shrimp, chopped thin
1 Bunch scallions, thinly sliced
To taste Salt and pepper to taste

Method

Step 1

In a small pot bring 3 cups of water to a boil, add Nori and simmer for 15 minutes.

Step 2

Stir in ½ cup bonito flakes and let simmer for three minutes. [Do not boil, otherwise the broth will turn bitter]. Turn the heat off and let infuse for fifteen minutes, then filter with a cheese cloth. Do not press on the residuals. Set the broth on the side and discard the rest.

Step 3

Bring a large pot of water to boil, cook pasta for three minutes less than package directions.

Step 4

Meanwhile in a large skillet in half the olive oil sauté garlic, ginger, and jalapeno over medium heat until it starts frying. Add chopped shrimp, the remaining olive oil and sauté over high heat for two minutes. Stir in bonito broth and bring to a simmer.

Step 5

Drain pasta, add to the skillet and finish with shrimp mixture over high heat.

Step 6

Serve topped with remaining bonito and sliced scallions.
