How to Store Pasta?

Pasta should be stored in a cool, dry place such as a cupboard or pantry.

The shelf life on our products vary. For the very best quality and taste, Barilla recommends using our pasta by the "best if used by" date found on our packaging.

How to Store Dry Boxed Pasta

Unopened and opened boxes of dry pasta should be stored somewhere cool and moisture-free, such as a cupboard or a pantry. You should never store boxes of dried pasta in the refrigerator or freezer because the pasta will absorb moisture.

How to Store Cooked Pasta in the Refrigerator?

Cooked pasta should be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator and eaten within two days. Pasta that has been cooked but has not been mixed with sauce should be tossed with extra-virgin olive oil prior to being stored to avoid clumping.

Can You Freeze Cooked Pasta?

Although not ideal, cooked plain pasta and cooked pasta mixed with sauce may be stored in the freezer in Ziploc bags or freezer-safe container. Pasta with sauce should be reheated in the microwave and plain pasta tossed with extra-virgin olive oil should be reheated in a skillet with a little bit of water.

How to Store Unopened Pasta Sauce
Unopened jars of pasta sauce should be stored at room temperature in a cupboard or pantry. If you prefer, you may also store them in the refrigerator.

How to Store Opened Jars of Pasta Sauce
Jars of pasta sauce that have been opened can be stored for 3-5 days in the refrigerator. If you don’t use the sauce during that time frame but want to save it for future use, you can transfer it to a freezer-safe container and store it in the freezer for up to 3 months.
